About the Book

Excerpt
Jack Turner came from the war with a limp in his soul,
A duffel of silence, a heart full of coal.
The medals meant nothing, the welcome was thin,
Even the dog at the gate wouldn’t let him in.

No home-coming, no parade for him or his war friends,
Just backs turned to him as he tried to make amends.
His home is no more where his family once lived with pride,
Now with them gone he wants to runoff and hide.
