About the Book

Circling Round Our Times, Our Culture is a thought-provoking collection of poems by Arlene Corwin that reflects on the defining issues of contemporary life. Through sharp observation, wit, and philosophical reflection, Corwin explores politics, technology, media, climate, war, and the shifting values of modern society.
Drawing inspiration from real events and everyday headlines, the poems capture the anxieties, contradictions, and ironies of our era while encouraging readers to pause, question, and reflect. Both critical and contemplative, this collection offers a poetic meditation on the world we have created—and the direction in which it may be heading.

Since 2010, Arlene Corwin has published twelve books of poetry hefty, 200 pagers all. She is a prolific writer, going from the sublime to the ridiculous, scribbling phantasmagorical ideas and working them until they have the rhythm, rhyme and development that satisfies her. When asked, she says she has no plan, aim or scheme to help her. A jazz musician and longtime yogini, she puts the thought to into free-flow, which then evolves of its own accord. Improvisation she trusts the improvisatory.
